Tony has been involved in boating through clubs, family and friends from a very young age throughout Southland, Otago and Canterbury eventually making it his profession in 1996 as a skipper, fishing guide and jet boat driver in Lake Wanaka.
Though 1997-98 he became involved with helping set up a jet-boating venture that took him to Canada and Alaska in the New Zealand off season. He then swapped horse power for wind power and took up an invitation to sail around Papua New Guinea on the 52ft ketch Little Swan.
He spent 4 months exploring the outer islands and villages until the adventure was cut short when pirates boarded the ketch in the night, stabbing the captain, ram-sacking the boat and throwing Tony overboard.
Tony went back to Christchurch where he found a new passion for diving, gaining an SSI Dive Instructor certification. He worked out of a dive shop where he sold equipment, dive trips, courses and instructed/guided dives with clients.
In 2000 he began a new adventure of self-employment, starting the Hanmer Springs Bakery with his wife Bridget, they quickly gained a understanding of dealing with staff, product management, sales and marketing; taking them to the new business of owning a carpet franchise in North Canterbury. All throughout staying involved in boating and diving in a recreational sense.
Tony and his family moved to Auckland after the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes still involved in the carpet industry and in sales.
In his spare time he enjoys exploring the Hauraki Gulf beaches and bays with family and friends, fishing, boating and Saturday sports with his two boys.
Welcome on board Tony!
